This second edition of An ABC of Prostate Cancer Today is an updated and expanded version of the best selling book An ABC of Prostate Cancer in 2015. It tells the author's Journey over 4 Continents to find the Best Cure for his prostate cancer. Parts 1 and 3 of the book are mainly focused on his being diagnosed with intermediate risk prostate cancer, and the process he went through to finally have proton beam radiation therapy in Seoul, South Korea in early 2013. Part 2 of the book focuses on the treatment options available to all newly diagnosed prostate cancer sufferers. It also includes a substantial section on diet and nutritional issues that the author believes are critical components of any prostate cancer prevention and/or treatment regime. He also includes a seven point plan to aid sufferers recovery from the disease. An important inclusion are more than 100 questions that patients should consider asking their doctors. Alternative therapies are discussed in some detail. The book should appeal to newly-diagnosed men as well as to men that have more advanced prostate cancer. Unlike most prostate cancer books available that are often out-of-date, this second edition includes details of the very latest diagnostics and treatments available. It includes information that may assist men with metastatic cancer who have a poor prognosis.

My Father died of prostate cancer and my brother recovered from it. So out of "self defense" I became a "friend" of the founder of the Prostate Cancer Research Center in Los Angeles to learn more and have done private research for 15 years and was honored to be called "One of the most knowledgeable laymen in the prostate cancer world" I even gave demonstrations of the new HIFU technology before it was FDA approved. With that said I wish I had written this book because it combines everything I have learned and much much more in an easy to read yet comprehensive review of current treatments and even some natural complimentary supplements. This man has done everyone with this health concern a great service. I am currently facing a rising PSA so I bought the book without expecting too much. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer (PC) and was advised to have it taken out. I was not ready to make that decision until I researched the options a bit. I found that most men travel the same path - their GP refers them to an Urologist who says "if it were me, I take it out. I'd want to know it was gone." If you ask about other treatments, you'll be referred to a Radiologist Oncologist, who typically performs photon beam radiation, or maybe also Brachytherapy (radioactive seed implants). You may or may not be told about other options. Since no one can make this decision for you, it's up to you to research and become informed. If you do not, you'll be following thousands of other men who have been cured of PC and deal with the affects. If you do, you'll find many other options, many of which offer similar rates of cure but with much different and potentially better side affects. If you want to research all the options, what they are like, what's their cure rate, side affects, availability, associated costs, etc., then cut to the chase and get this book. I spent hundreds of hours reading research reports, medical blogs and cancer forums along with many hours talking directly to men who have had various treatments. This book not only sums up everything I learned but adds much more. Many suggested Dr Patrick Walsh's "Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer", but IMHO this book is MUCH better. One caveat to note both Alan Lawrenson and myself admit that having a radical prostatectomy was not the preferred path. If you are considering that approach, then by all means, read Dr Walsh's book - it's what he does. If you put value on studies and cure rates for other treatments, then save yourself time, money and frustration - read this book!

I bought Alan’s first edition and as a Prostate Cancer sufferer I found the material very interesting. It shows that there are a number of choices out there that those afflicted with this disease should consider. The newer technology based solutions seem to offer more help with fewer side-effects. In his second edition Alan has added sections to explore the effect of diet and alternative therapies. These offer a broader set of tools and should definitely be looked at. Sadly few doctors are aware of the alternative treatments but the combination of both tradition and alternative may give many sufferers greater success.
This material is well researched and up to date. Prostate Cancer treatments are evolving rapidly and this eBook will help you get up to date. Both medical practitioners and laymen will get value from reading it. Recommended.
When first diagnosed with prostate cancer I was motivated to learn more about the condition and treatment. All of the books I could lay my hands on to read were either too technical or out of date.
When I got the AnABC of Prostate cancer book I found it so relevant and understandable that I could not put it down.
Alan clearly has done an incredible amount of research right from describing what prostate cancer is,how it is diagnosed,the myriad of options how it can now be treated,the side affects of treatments plus glossary of terms,useful website references and even a chapter on diet. I have added the focc Budwig mix to my diet (referred to in the book) and are very pleased with that discovery.
What I have learned from this book has empowered and helped me understand my condition and treatment options, for that I am grateful.

Most up to date of any books I have found so far. For example, I purchased 6 books in the last year and none of them mentioned High Dose Brachytherapy. I just got my appointment this morning for a MRI. I use a fairly large clinic, in a small city, but I think I may be the first person they have ever referred for a 3T MRI. It was available at a hospital only 50 miles away. Unless you live in or near a larger city, you may have to push to get the latest stuff for either diagnosis or treatment. There are new treatments coming on line all the time. Do your research and make an informed decision. This book is a good place to start. Good Luck.
