I am a picky one to please and usually shred things I dislike but this... this is the opposite! I really really like this series! So far it has had me chomping at the bit for each new book or note from the authors. I am thoroughly enjoying the interweaving of the characters in particular but can't say enough about the use of todays issues in projecting the staging of the story line. I am so excited for the next one.If you haven't read Legacy of Ashes, read it first and I highly recommend joining the reader list for a free copy of Murder in Triangle City. I don't generally join any mailing lists but this reader list has been non intrusive and the notes from the authors are a fun read.
You will not be disappointed.

The author does a good job of combining the unlikely(pulse weapons,people that live for over 100 years while looking 30) with the likely(a societal collapse after an economic crisis).I found myself enjoying everything about this series far more than I expected.
4.5* AWESOME 2nd volume. This book continues to be well developed and thought out. The characters are believable and well developed. This second book in the series includes the main character from Murder in Triangle City (a side novel in the same world which you should also read, but don't have to, to enjoy this series) Looking forward to the next book in this series. Get this book, you won't be disappointment. The authors supplied me with an ARC and I voluntarily chose to leave a review.
Kinda gets monotonous as the luck of the opposition gets unusually better and as a prisoner the question invariably comes up. Whatcha know?
Follow the experiences of our heroes into the badlands. This second book in the Earth's Ashes Series gives the reader a wider view of what's going on outside of the cities, and it is not a pretty picture. "Sampson's Legacy" is another engaging read from Ric. It continues the very interesting and sometimes diabolical story that was started in "Legacy of Ashes" and has some more surprising twists. And now I am eagerly awaiting book 3!
I loved this second installment--we get to learn about what life's like outside the few cities, we get to see our favorite characters in action again and learn more about what made them the way they were. Questions from the first book were answered, and more introduced, but always in an engaging way. Love this world and love these characters. Just want more!
Good story. Trying not to give anything away, but a little difficult to follow. Each chapter jumps to another setting and you have to keep the names and faces straight. The first two books were good too. My problem is that I have it on so I read at diners, train, night etc. Not always full chapters.
I just finished reading this book. I really enjoy the world Ric Beard has created. All of the characters are fleshed out, enough for me to get a good "mind's eye view" of them. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series. I would also like this series on Audio format too. They are good enough for me to pay to listen to them too!
